Women's Volleyball Nets 10th Straight AVCA Academic Award

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its work in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year.

The Polar Bears received the "AVCA Team Academic Award" from the organization for the tenth consecutive year. The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Bowdoin recorded a 15-10 season last fall, advancing to the semifinals of the NESCAC Tournament. The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday, September 6, when they open their 2017 campaign at home against the University of Southern Maine.
