Finnerty and Shipley Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin seniors Kara Finnerty (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Caroline Shipley (Andover, Mass.) have been recognized on Academic All-District Teams announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

Finnerty, a field hockey and women's lacrosse athlete, was named as to the At-Large All-District Team while Shipley was named to the Track & Field All-District Team. Academic All-District Teams are selected by CoSIDA members to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and the classroom. All-District Honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with selections being announced in June.

Kara Finnerty, a two-sport All-American for Bowdoin in field hockey and women's lacrosse, while excelling in the classroom with a double-major in Government and Legal Studies and Francophone Studies. She received the Athletic Department's Sidney J. Watson Award for Outstanding Multi-Sport Athlete.

A three-time All-American in cross country and track, including a 2018 national champion in the Distance Medley Relay, Caroline Shipley was a double-major in Environmental Studies and Government & Legal Studies at Bowdoin. A Sarah & James Bowdoin Scholar, she received the Athletic Department's Academic Achievement Award for Women this spring.
