Coach Pizzo's Report - November 4

The Polar Bears competed at the 2019 Match Race National Championship hosted by the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA.  Racing on Friday was blown out because of too much wind.  Conditions were much lighter on Saturday and Sunday which allowed for excellent match racing.  The Polar Bears started the event with a strong win against the University of Washington but then struggled in the seven remaining races pon Saturday. Poor boat speed led to difficult decision making which led to bad outcomes.  The team had an opportunity to get back into the top 5 but lost a crucial race against Eckerd College on Sunday morning where they got involved with another race near the gate mark.  The Polar Bears were able to defeat the University of Washington to secure 9th place overall.

The fall season has concluded and the team will be back on the water for our spring season the first week of March.
