Game Highlights

  • Wesleyan scored just 1:54 into the game to take a quick 1-0 lead. Rachel Ziff controlled the puck deep in the right corner of the Wesleyan zone and found Steph O'Brien on the blue line. O'Brien carried to the Bowdoin zone and dumped the puck on net, with the shot sneaking through Dani Marquez's pads.
  • Early in the second period, Cali Stevens broke away into the Bowdoin zone only to be stonewalled by Marquez.
  • Wesleyan went up 2-0 6:21 into the frame. Colleen Castro took a shot from close range with the rebound kicking out to Alicia Nickolenko for a poke in.
  • Bowdoin answered four minutes later as Peyton Mulhern scored her first collegiate goal. Katie Leininger fired a shot from the left side with an initial save from Allegra Grant. Mulhern cleaned up the rebound on the near post.
  • Less than minute later, the Cardinals went ahead 3-1. Audrey McMahon caused a turnover deep in the Bowdoin zone and centered the puck to Stevens. Stevens came down the slot and worked right to score her first.
  • Mulhern tallied her second, and team's second, with seven minutes remaining in the period. Izzi Stoddard slipped a pass from the right boards across to Mulhern at the far dot. The first-year moved to the inside edge of the circle and wristed a shot top shelf.
  • Bowdoin tied the game midway through the third. Angelina Joyce rifled a shot from the right side, forcing Grant to make a big pad save and deflect the puck opposite side. Izzi Stoddard received the rebound directly to the stick and wristed a shot near side.
  • Angelina Joyce tallied the game-winner with 38 seconds remaining in overtime. After circling the Cardinals net for the majority of overtime, Mulhern deflected the puck from the slot towards Joyce on the left. Joyce connected with the bouncing puck and put it in the back of the net.
