BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin senior Caroline Flaharty (Fort Myers, Fla.) has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors Association in honors announced this week.
It is the second All-American honor for Flaharty, who was also named Honorable Mention in 2018. It is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition for Flaharty.
On the court, Flaharty led Bowdoin at 3.01 kills/set and also posted 3.23 digs/set, becoming just the third player in program history to surpass 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career. Her 1,270 career kills stand second all-time at Bowdoin, earning her a third-straight First Team All-NESCAC selection.
Off the court, Flaharty earned CoSIDA Academic All-District, owning a 3.6 GPA with a double-major in Psychology and Education. The 2019 Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
